when you can't feel

BASIC

NAME: risotto nero
CANON: jojo's bizarre adventure (golden wind / part 5)
AGE: 28
DOB: PICK
GENDER: male (he/him)
NATIONALITY: italian
ACTIVE: victory road, memes, psls

APPEARANCE

VISUAL: pic here
HEIGHT: 6'5"
BUILD: tall, muscular and bizarrely lacking in shirts for his daywear, risotto is an intimidating guy to run across...aside from the jester hat, anyway. risotto's stand is powerful but can't actually manifest into a form that could fight on his behalf, so it seems 'lift weights' was his answer to that problem.
HAIR: white, medium/short, likely buzzed on the sides since only his bangs are ever visible.
EYES: red irises with black sclera. it's never addressed as being either natural, a result of his stand, a tattoo, contacts, the devil, etc. they're just like that. #justanimethings
FEATURES: scattered scars from work, mostly elbows-down/old defensive wounds
DRESS: when not in his carnivale clown best, still dresses in a lot of black, grey, and white. is theoretically capable of wearing an actual shirt if he's not going to spend most of his day invisible.
VOICE: Deep voice, will often be a quiet observer until he needs to speak, unhesitating when he does speak up. Presumably speaks English in addition to Italian based on where he's been assigned jobs.

VIRTUES: Confident, strategic, patient, clever, loyal (to some)
VICES: Brutal, violent, cruel, reticent, vengeful, will allow atrocities to be committed around him without necessarily intervening
SUMMARY

the basics

Risotto is the serious, calculating leader of the hitman team of a large Italian mafia. Other portions of the gang don't trust their group - hard to blame them - and this is maybe part of what drives all the members into being as close-knit as they are. For a team of killers - and Risotto is very much a remorseless killer - Risotto cares for his team's well-being and it's clear this is true of the other members about each other.

The main thrust of Risotto's story arc is not any kill he's assigned to by his mafia, but him and his team instead turning traitor against the boss for a mixture of selfish reasons (they don't believe they're being paid enough for their hits, and since they own no turf and have no other income, they want control of the boss' drug trade) and revenge (the boss has two of their original nine members killed as a warning). Initially bent on simply getting more money, their goals clearly morph towards avenging their down comrades as their numbers dwindle.

Risotto himself is [spoilers] the last of his team to die, by which point he clearly knew he was never going to single-handedly take control of the gang. He was motivated only by a need to kill the man responsible for the deaths of his men. Revenge is, as it happens, what introduced Risotto to the world of killing in the first place. Risotto's first kill is at eighteen, of a drunk driver who killed his cousin in a crash. The driver was jailed for four years, and once released, Risotto killed him. Clearly, he wanted to enact a more personal punishment...and equally clearly, he was willing to wait to be able to do so.

Risotto demonstrates a good deal of patience and clever thinking during his sparse scenes. He's clearly respected by his team members while also being on good terms with them. He's methodical in how he kills, and he actually doesn't seem to touch his victims at all. Risotto can turn invisible at will and he uses this to his advantage constantly; his stand powers allow him to manipulate iron and he uses this to keep his distance from opponents. He's more concerned with winning the war than winning the battle. Risotto will retreat if necessary, bide his time, and then ruthlessly strike later.

box contains spoilers; plot summary
Risotto is an assassin for a large Italian mafia. Specifically, he's the team leader of that mafia's own squad of assassins; a group that owns no turf (and therefore collects no taxes from the populace) and that even their fellow gang members distrust. Reliant entirely on what they all collectively earn from kills direct from the boss himself, eventually, Risotto's team grows sick of this perceived unfair treatment and hatches an idea: take out the boss, and take over his entire drug trade route and make a hell of a lot more in passive income.

This results in, as soon as they begin to try to figure out who the boss might actually be (no one knows his name or face), the intel pair of their team are brutally killed. Everyone is shaken by this, and Risotto, cutting their losses, instructs his team to "forget about" the ones who were just killed. He also lingers...quite a bit at their funeral. It's safe to assume, based on parallels between his team and the protagonist's team, that Risotto feels responsible for his team members' deaths and is focused now on protecting the remaining members.

And eventual revenge, when the opportunity presents itself. Which it does. A clue is accidentally revealed to the entire gang at large about the boss' identity, and Risotto and his team unanimously leap at this opportunity. They plan in secret and then quickly make their move...to kidnap the boss' daughter and use her for leverage against the boss himself.

Their attempts to get to the boss' daughter is what pits them against the protagonist's team, and gradually, all of Risotto's team members are killed. By the time it's just him left, the fact that he's still present at all tells us that this is no longer about money, or turf - this is about avenging his teammates by killing the boss himself.

Risotto does what the protagonists can't do for several more days and figures out the boss' identity, although he dies after a lengthy battle with him. The concepts of loyalty and resolve are heavy ones in this arc of the show among the protagonists, and it's reflected in the Hitman Team as well. Risotto showcases a great deal of loyalty towards his teammates - they all do, to each other, occasionally having in-fighting but their trust is clear as they all work together both in-person and long-distance as they split up for the plot. He also demonstrates a level of resolve that literally proves fatal - not only does he refuse to back down from trying to take out the boss of the entire organization himself on behalf of his fallen team, but his final effort to do so is what kills him. Already mortally wounded, Risotto grabs the boss against himself and causes a gun to fire at the both of them, literally willing to kill both of them rather than not take the shot. Only a power that the Boss had concealed from him until that moment allowed the Boss to survive it.
THREAD IDEAS I'M ALWAYS UP FOR

→ la squadra as partners-in-crime/family shenanigans
→ teaming up with bucci gang aus/all sorts of canon divergence of jointly going after the boss
→ meshing canons to write with other assassins/hitmen/villains who are still capable of having positive traits/etc and teaming up for jobs
→ 'oops i'm injured and need help and you're the only one around' scenes, w assumed cr or strangers
→ child in unfortunate circumstances that risotto can either 'rescue'/adopt and subsequently try to keep out of the mafia, OR 'we found this street urchin and we don't care it's a teenager, meet your new teammate' and balancing feeling protective of said kid vs teaching them how to fight

IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: risotto is not outwardly affectionate without cause and without triple-checking that whoever he's about to touch won't start a fight over it. he'll be surprised to have it initiated towards him but potentially return it depending on cr. or fight. depending on cr.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: risotto is a trained assassin who relies on both stealth and insane levels of (long distance) violence to torture and/or kill targets. he is not inherently interested in harming people who he's not 1. being paid to harm, 2. in his way, or 3. deserve it, however, and will allow even suspicious bystanders to survive if it's not necessary to kill them. all that said - he's not invincible, go for it! good with assumed hits/etc during fights to keep momentum going, use common sense and keep it fun for both parties, we can discuss it OOCly if you'd like, etc!
RELATIONSHIPS: writer isn't interested in ship
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: no psychic abilities or ways of fighting off psychic attacks, go wild.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: he has a Stand, a psychically-manifested being that's essentially a piece of his will power given form. only other Stand users can see Stands, although normal people can be affected (and even killed) by them. i'm open to players interpreting who can see risotto's stand as they'd like: if your character is a supernatural being like a vampire, or has their own similar powerset, or studies auras or etc etc, they're welcome to see it. risotto's stand is named metallica (yes, like the band) and its powers are loosely 'iron manipulation'. risotto's stand lives literally inside his own blood, meaning his very body is magnetic while using his powers. he mostly uses metallica to create harmful objects in others (nails, razors, scissors) and to appear invisible via reflections. it's, uh, a bit of a stretch but look i'm just reporting what the creator said he can do. at least it's not 'magneto, but italian'?

OUT OF CHARACTER

BACKTAGGING: yes
THREADHOPPING: for texting threads
FOURTHWALLING: no
NOT INTERESTED IN: shipping, or negative cr that won't evolve. VERY VERY okay with enemies-to-friends or even just enemies-to-reluctant-allies, tho.
